What is electrical system maintenance?

High-quality electrical installation is undoubtedly a prerequisite for the operation of buildings for various purposes. To do this, especially in the case of utilities or workplaces, their owners must ensure their regular maintenance. It is carried out by qualified electricians, who, after a preliminary assessment of the technical condition, undertake specific repair activities.

Duty to inspect
The technical condition of the electrical installation should be checked regularly in all buildings, regardless of their purpose. We are talking about residential buildings, public buildings, production halls, office buildings, as well as leisure infrastructure. The responsibility for ensuring such verification lies with the building manager or owner. The frequency of its implementation is specified in the norms of construction legislation, however, in the case of single-family houses, such a procedure is not required. Maintenance work during operation should be carried out at least once every five years. As a rule, an electrical installation is inspected more often, because its age, mode of operation, the nature of the building and the results of the previous inspection are also taken into account.

The purpose of systematic maintenance
Regular inspection of the technical condition is an extremely important measure, as it allows you to identify premature failures and malfunctions that may cause them. In addition, the main goal is not only to maintain efficiency, but, above all, to minimize the risk of fire due to undesirable localization. Special attention should be paid to systematic maintenance in buildings equipped with an old type of installation, the so-called tinned ones, which can be extremely susceptible to damage.

Scope of control work
The first stage of testing is a general assessment of the electrical installation in the building. For this purpose, the necessary measurements are carried out, including insulation resistance, voltage drop, grounding, as well as functional and operational tests. If the building is equipped with a lightning protection system, it is also subject to inspection. Based on the results obtained, electricians can decide on the scope of specific maintenance work.

As a rule, they consist in protecting cables from short circuits, as well as in maintaining the functionality of the protective shutdown devices. Their proper operation depends on the immediate power outage of the installation in the event of an electric shock or fire. Comprehensive maintenance also includes the replacement of all faulty internal and external components and an assessment of the operability of the building's electrical network. Such control is able to protect not only the building itself, but also its users, ensuring the correct operation of all devices. Descubre nuevas oportunidades de ganar en spinay cada semana.
