Shimla is beautiful, but its surroundings are no less enchanting! Kufri is another quaint hill-station just 20 km from Shimla that catches my fancy. I’d recommend visiting this year-round. No matter when you go, Kufri will embrace you with open arms. Summer is quite pleasant in Kufri and winter there experiences heavy snowfall, so this place makes a perfect for a perfect getaway from Delhi with just an overnight drive away!
Skiing and tobogganing along with the vast network of trekking trails make some of the most popular things to do in Kufri. Walk through cedar woods up to the Mahasu Peak, ride a horse, plan a visit to the Himalayan Nature Park, or Indira Tourist Park or take a short trip to Fagu just 6 km from Kufri, there’s a lot do in the midst of the verdant Himalayas in Kufri region.
The best time to visit Kufri is from March to June when India is dealing with extreme cold. In that duration, Kufri makes such a comforting getaway for everyone. Located in the vast expanse of mountain land, there are a few incredible campsites in Kufri that make an excellent option for everyone planning to experience the outdoor life in the Greater Himalayan region. The awe-inspiring outdoors and a popular golf course make Naldehra an ideal vacation spot in the mountains. I went there looking for quietude, and this place didn’t disappoint me at all. Naldehra near Shimla is aptly installed between the pine-fringed valley and massive Himalayan mountains and can be easily reached if you choose to stay back in Shimla. The lovely town in Himachal, just an hour away from the bustles of capital city Shimla, samples the best of alpine.
A pony ride along the vast golf course is such an exciting thing to do in Naldehra. The 9-hole-golf-course is a prominent attraction in Naldehra town that offers 360-degree views of mountains and lush nature around. A pony ride here is highly recommended. However, you can also choose to walk around, and the fervent charm of Naldehra won’t disappoint you even a bit. Naldehra Bagan is a 20-minute drive from the town which happens to be another popular attraction here. Mashobra’s Regional Horticultural Research Station is nearby, and a perfect attraction for tourists.

The beautiful town in eastern Himachal Kinnaur district is guarded by the high mountain land in the Sutlej-valley region. At 2758 feet above sea level, this Greater Himalayan Paradise is cuddled by clouds and best of Himalayan alpine. I could really see the grand view of Sutlej flowing by, making all the hustles piercing through the rocky terrain of Kinnaur. Having said that, the site by the river also facilitates lovely camping grounds which also serves as a hotspot for all the backpackers looking for some of the most popular things to do in Kalpa. Kinner Kailash Mountain is considered the most sacred spot in the entire Kinnaur region and hence makes for a prime tourist attraction in Kinnaur as well as Kalpa. The magnificence of nature is duly savored by the religious as well as nature devotees in the region. The most prominent attraction here is the Shiva Lingam that sits here atop 70m thus making for a grand spectacle. Sangla Valley is another prominent tourist attraction here that I like and must be visited by everyone. When you are around, there’s indeed a lot to explore apart from the majestic nature. The HPTDC hotels in Kinner Kailash are the stays that I’d especially like to mention, for they are entwined amidst spectacular views are offers wholesome stay experience. The local Himachali cuisines and other food variety make the highlight of this stay. We are sharing our Experience Of Sangla trip. Sangla is located at a stone’s throw distance from Tibet is Himachal’s another pretty Sangla perfectly tucked in the heart of Sangla Valley. Kinnaur being the district and a major town in the region serves as the perfect point of contact for every visitor headed to Sangla. They call it the Pass of Light for its unique setting created during the reception of sunlight during the day. How to reach Sangla! I chose to head to Sangla via Chandigarh, which is roughly a 4.5-hour drive from Delhi. Its close proximity to Delhi and Punjab makes Sangla a perfect weekend getaway for all the outdoor enthusiasts.
From Chandigarh, Sangla is an 11-hour drive. So, if you are planning to start in Delhi, it will take you around 15 hours to reach Sangla. The entire Sangla stretching over an area of 40 km presents a stunning attraction offering surreal views of snow-clad mountains and a multitude of activities like camping, hiking, trekking, rappelling, rock climbing, and river crossing. Sit back and marvel at Kinner Kailash peak, it’s a magnificent sight to behold and the best thing to do in the valley. There is plenty of snow-clad mountains around, quite a few roadside dhabas and eateries around.
Camps make for a prominent option for places to stay in Sangla. Some of the most popular in the region are – Banjara, Kinner, Igloo Nature, Baikunth Adventure Camp, and the Sangla Valley camps. Apart from arranging incredible stays, these camps also arrange for adventure activities and guided tours. Rakcham trek is a popular snow trek in the region and it is so close to my heart.

We are Sharing Our Experience of Raksham trip. Raksham Valley– A Small Village Of Kinnaur which is popular for its Beauty. Sitting, the pretty village at an altitude of around 3000 meters above sea level Raksham Valley falls en route Chitkul and is truly one of the magical places to visit in Himachal. For a village sparsely populated with 800 people, there is something in the offering for every tourist/traveler. Chitkul falls to your left while traveling to Raksham via Sangla. With river Baspa flowing to the right, there couldn’t be more impressive view in the offering. Besides the snow-clad mountains around, there are a few temples. Primarily of Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali, herds of sheep and shepherds around to pep you up on any day.
Winters in Raksham are extreme and most of the places remain inaccessible because of heavy snowfall. It is therefore recommended to plan a visit to the places around Raksham and beyond between April to September. Speaking of the popular attractions of Rackham. There are some of the age-old houses in the village seeming exquisitely charming in appearance in the presence of a thick forest in the backdrop. You can always plan an eventful hike around the village for some fun and excitement.
Woods forming Himalayan moist temperate forest surrounds the entire village and make it a picture-perfect set-up. So if you are a sucker for vast landscapes and rustic pictures. You for sure know that Raksham Valley is the perfect place to visit in Himachal. The Rackham-Chitkul wildlife sanctuary is a popular attraction in the region, which is home to wildlife species such as leopard, blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan brown bear, and musk deer.
