Tirthan Valley
Tirthan Valley is located at a distance of 70 km from Kullu. It is at an altitude of 1600m above the sea level. It is located inside the Great Himalayan National Park. The valley can be reached from Gushani by trek. It is one of the best trekking trails in Himachal Pradesh. The name Tirthan is derived from Tirthan River which originates from glaciers of Himalayas.
If the trekkers want to start their trekking into GHNP the valley also serves as a base camp. The valley is food for trekking, trout fishing, overnight camping, river crossing and all kind of adventures activities. A permit is required for trout fishing here. The suitable time to visit the valley is from May to Oct. The start of winter and summer season is the best time to visit Tirthan Valley.
Climate:
- The summer season: The weather is pleasant during summer. It gives people a fantastic opportunity to escape the heat of summers. There is vast vegetation spread in the region with lots of flowers blooming and strong winds. This is what makes it one of the scenic destinations in the area.
- The winter season: The winter season starts from Nov to Feb. The winters can be quite harsh for the first-timers. The small patches of vegetation and the snow-covered environment make the overall experience worth it.
- The spring season: The spring season starts from March to April. Spring is the most beautiful season blessed with orchids loaded with fruits, meadows, and flowers offering picturesque backdrops.

- By Air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar, which is, approximately 48 km away. If you want to explore the nearby areas then you can catch a flight from Chandigarh. You can cover the remaining distance from cab or bus which is 134km.
- By Road: The road is accessible by road. There are frequent bus services running from Delhi. The buses will drop you till Jalori and Shoja. You can cover the remaining distance by cab.
- By Train: The nearest railway station is Ambala and Kiratpur. There are buses and cabs available to cover the remaining distance.
