The temple of Baijanth continues to attract people from all corners of the world as it is against the splendid backdrop of the legendary Dhauladhars. Temple was built by two merchant brothers in 804 AD named Ahuka and Manyuka. The temple of Baijnath has become identical with mystic invincibility. It is said to be that no earthquake can ever damage the temple. In the Beas Valley, it is indeed a remarkable monument and lends its name to the rustic township. It has emerged from a picturesque village called Kiragrama. Baijnath is located near a small town 53 km to the north of Almora named Kausani.

The temple of Baijnath is remarkable for its exclusive, highly imaginative design and skilled workmanship. The temple has undergone many changes. Some of its old features were planned by two gifted craftsmen from Kangra who have disappeared during renovations. It is said that Navaka and Thoduka constructed the lofty temple of Shiva. They formed it in the shape of a mandapa. On it glitters the figures of the ganas or crowd. The pillars are classically designed. The effigy of Ganga and Yamuna stand at the door of the temple. You can see the striking image of Surya (the Sun God) wearing a delicately laced jacket. Ornamented foliage, Graceful balcony windows, and carvings lend variety to the stately structure. The (Lord Shiva) lingam of Vaidyanath resides inside the temple. People travel to Baijnath in the hope that Lord Shiva will cure them of their ailments. The water at Baijnath is popular for its remarkable digestive properties. It is said that the rulers of the Kangra Valley drank water only obtained from Baijnath.How to Reach
